EVENTS LIST Spring 2011 will be distributed with this Tuesday Notice.
 
NOTE – Could parents please refrain from using the Mormon’s Car Park for child drop off.
 
PIZZA – there will be NO PIZZAS this Thursday due to the King’s Play performance in the afternoon.
 
FREE EVENT - COMENIUS VISIT – INTERNATIONAL FOLKDANCING EVENING Tuesday 25th January in the School Hall.
You are warmly invited to join our international folk-dancing evening in the Hall at 7.30pm. Groups of Polish, Latvian and Italian pupils and teachers will come to the School Hall to show their folkdances to anyone interested. You may join in! There will be folk singing too. Young children should be accompanied by parents. Look out for posters.
 
THREE KINGS PLAY performance on Thursday 27th January at 7pm in the School Hall.
You are warmly invited to come and watch the Three Kings Play which will be performed by teachers and parents of the School on Thursday 27th January at 7pm in the Hall.
This is the third of the Oberufer plays that the school presents every year to the school community. It is suitable for Class 6 (12 years) and upwards.  Donations gratefully received at the door.
 
FAMILY BURNS SUPPER AND CEILIDH – Friday 28th January at 6.30pm in the School Hall
Come and enjoy an organic Burns Supper and Ceilidh featuring the famous ‘Thunderdogs’ Ceilidh band on Friday 28th January. There will also be individual contributions of music and dance.
Another opportunity to wear your kilt or to dress smartly.
A great night out for the whole family!
It starts at 6.30pm with supper followed at 8pm with a Ceilidh.
Programme for the night:   
                                                            Piping in of the Haggis
                                                            Addressing the Haggis
                                                Traditional Burn’s Supper (vegetarian option)
                                                Followed by Harp and Scottish fiddle music
Ceilidh dancing
 
Tickets for Supper + Ceilidh: adult £8.00, child £5.00, family £20.00 (2 adults, 2 children).
Tickets for Ceilidh only: child £2.50, adult £4, Family £10 (2 adults, 2 children).
PLEASE BUY YOUR SUPPER TICKETS IN ADVANCE (this will help the kitchen).
Tickets available from Karin in the office and from Class 11 pupils at the Friday Market 28th January.

PRESENTATION ABOUT THE UPPER SCHOOL - on Monday 7TH February at 8pm in the New Class 8 Room.
There will be a presentation of Upper School Teachers about the Upper School, designed for parents in the Lower School. Please come to hear more about Upper School structure, course, exams and any other questions you may have.
 
Blue Sky Group: a new group is being formed as part of the PTA to scoop up all the great ideas and inspirational projects which abound in the school community and to find ways of bringing as many of them to fruition as possible.  Everyone, including pupils, parents, teachers and friends of the school, is invited to contribute to the group.  You may be new to the school and want to share ideas generated by your first impressions or you may be an old hand, with years of experience but still enthused by the school, its ideals and its achievements.  Contact Carolyn Grohmann by phone, 0131 443 5818, by email, cgrohmann@yahoo.co.uk, through the PTA or face to face by Tuesday 25th January.
 
‘GOING GREEN, FOR EVERYONE’ - a drop-in event for advice and information on home energy efficiency, sustainable
transport, local food and other climate friendly things. 9.30am – 12.30pm on Saturday 5th March in the School Hall. Stalls and advice sessions from Energy Saving Trust, a Better Way to Work, local food producers and others.

NEWTON’S ALTERATIONS is back at the Friday Market every week. I replace zips, take up trousers and fix, mend and alter most items of clothing. I also re-cover cushions and make up some soft furnishings & sew clothes for both adults and children. Oh, and I make “Steiner dolls” and knit socks! Quite a Jill-of-all-trades!
