Climate Challenge Project
We're very pleased to announce that, after receiving many applications for the post, we've appointed Ben Murray as the co-ordinator of our 'Being the change we want to see' project to reduce the carbon footprint of the school community. Ben has experience of running similar community-based climate change projects, most recently at St John's church in Edinburgh, and is also a parent of children at the school. Ben will be working particularly closely with Andrew Farquharson and Gordon Reynolds, but also with the rest of the teachers in the school, with pupils and with parents to collectively reduce our climate change emissions. The school sees this as a great opportunity to pull together and build on all the environmental work that we currently do, to save energy and to save money. We welcome Ben to this new post. Management

Community garden update
The community garden in the grounds of the Royal Edinburgh was officially opened by Scottish Government Minister for Public Health Shona Robison on 18th May.   A few children from classes 2, 4 and 5 came along to help show the Minister what they've been doing there and to plant a tree to mark the opening of the garden. We hope to organise another work day for families before the end of term - but haven't yet been able to confirm a date. As soon as we do, we'll send a message to class convenors and put a note in the Tuesday Notice. Sonia Theilen and Liz Murray

FAMILY WANTING A HOUSE TO RENT
Nice country loving family consisting of myself, my husband, our 18 months baby and my mum, seeks a long term let on a farmhouse/country property. We need three or more bedrooms, a garden for the baby and also for growing fruit and vegetables. My husband is disabled and we receive housing allowance, giving us a budget of around £600 in the borders, £850 in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Due to my husbands fragile health and the need to settle our daughter in a secure environment we need a long term let. We can provide excellent references. We are a non smoking, non drinking, peaceful family who are only leaving our much loved home due to our landlord needing the building for other purposes. If you can help or know of anyone who can please contact us on 01968 660 237.
