BEING THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE
Scottish Government Climate Challenge funding will help make our school even greener
As part of our eco-schools work, we hope to become more aware of the impact of our school, and all its activities, on climate change and to make sure that we do our bit to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
And we have just received a grant of just over £20,000 from the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund to help us do just this! Ghandi once said: "You must be the change you want to see in the world" and that's what we'll be using the money to do; to help us work out the school's carbon footprint, to look at all the things we can do to reduce our carbon footprint, to hold events and workshops for the whole school community to help educate and raise awareness, and to start to take action to make a difference. The grant will also cover the costs of making energy efficiency improvements to the school buildings and pay for some teacher's time, as well as to employ someone part-time specifically to oversee the project between now and spring next year. That post is being advertised now at www.environmentjob.co.uk. More to follow soon. School Management group.
Please note: The School does not necessarily endorse or warrant the following information relating to activities or articles for sale. All notices for inclusion should be signed and dated and handed into the office, with appropriate payment, before 10.30am the preceding Friday. £2.00 for school ads, £3.00 out with.
"Colour and Art meet Science”: A talk and workshop with Angela Lord, author of "Colour Dynamics", exploring Art and Colour from a Goethean perspective. Talk: Saturday 15th May 7.30 in School Hall.
Workshop Sunday 26th May at School. 9.30 am - 3.30 pm Cost £25 / 20 conc.

Our house is close to the city, so if you consider taking any classes it should be convenient for you. You will have your own room & bathroom. ACCOMMODATION NEEDED - "Three artists (male) are looking for accommodation in Edinburgh during the months of August 2010. They are non-smokers and non-drinkers and are happy to pay for their stay! Please contact Sabine on 0131 3468665 if you can help!"
ACCOMMODATION NEEDED - I am a teacher at Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School in Sydney. My son, Tamlyn Henderson, and two other friends (all in their 30s and two of them ex-Glenaeon students) have just had confirmation that they have a theatre (Underbelly) at the Edinburgh Fringe for their comedy show and they are accordingly now looking for accommodation in Edinburgh for the month of August this year. Taking their show to the Fringe is costing them pretty much all they have - and more - and I wonder if there is any possibility of house-sitting or rental or house exchange (our Sydney house would be available for 4 weeks over Christmas this year for example if anyone wanted to escape part of a Scottish winter!)
