23 March 2010 in Tuesday Notice
HAPPY EASTER
Easter Holidays are from Friday 26th March 1pm till Wednesday 14th April inclusive.
We are saying goodbye to our visiting students from abroad who will be returning home. We hope they have enjoyed their stay with us.
There will be NO Afternoon Care on the last day of term,26th March.
EASTER ASSEMBLY on Friday 26th March at 11.45am.
Parents are warmly invited to attend the Easter Assembly at 11.45am. Please come in good time to be seated before the procession of the Easter Crosses.
LOST & FOUND – there will be a table with lost & found properties at the Friday Market (26th March) after the assembly. Please see if there is anything that belonged to you. There after it will go to the Jumble Sale!
LUNCH NEWS – Class 12 will finish doing lunches on the 7thMay 2010. From 10th May Class 11 will provide them. This means that your first order for next term will be for 2 weeks only. The menu will be the same as this term. Please return the order form to your child’s class teacher on Thursday 15th April.
I would like to thank you all for your support over the year with our fundraising for our class trip to Russia. Thank you, Class 12
NEW CLASSROOM - Over the Easter Holidays the foundation will be laid for a new classroom. This is a badly needed new space to replace the present class 8 room. The council has not allowed us to replace it on the existing site. After a lot of negotiations the school decided to erect this new room in the top corner of the vegetable garden. It is the intention that over the summer holidays a company will build the Finnish style wooden building, to be ready for the new term. In addition to the classroom there will also be a small room to house the Lower School library.
WEAR A HAT TO SCHOOL DAY on Thursday 25th March.
Class 7 are hoping all pupils (and staff) will join them for “Wear a Hat to School Day”. This is in aid of Brain Tumour Research. A parent of our class was seriously ill with a brain tumour last year, and the oldest pupils will remember our dear Helen Brown. Class 7 will come round and collect (£1 donations from all pupils who join in) during Main Lesson. Hats can be “cool, fantastic, practical or ordinary” but they must be of good taste. We hope everyone will go for a PROMENADE at break time so they can all be seen.
Have fun choosing/designing/making/finding your hat: may it express your own true being!!!

“An Evening with Dementia” Play at Columcille Centre, 2 Newbattle Terrace, Edinburgh on Fri 16th April at 7.30pm.
“Anyone who cares for a dementia sufferer should certainly see this play!”
Trevor Smith, a professional actor, is touring his play in Scotland and Ireland. The play deals with issues of loss, disempowerment and old age, and deconstructs the experience of an identity cut loose from the rest of the world by the loss of memory. It is a delightful, often humorous performance which gives a poignant account of the world seen through the eyes of a dementia sufferer.
Trevor has worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company, at the Old Vic and in many of London’s West End theatres as well as in films. He has appeared in many television series including Rumpole of the Bailey, The Bill, Allo Allo, The House of Elliot, London’s Burning etc.
