Ad Howells' Film to Screen at Filmhouse!
8 June 2009 in School News
Budding filmmaker, Ad Howells (17) from Class 11, will screen his latest project at the Filmhouse on Friday 12th June as part of the Capital''s Bike Week Film Festival. The Biker, a short, was produced by Edinburgh based charity Scottish Kids are Making Movies (SKAMM). Funding was also secured from the National Lottery through the UK Film Council's First Light Movie Initiative.
The Biker is the story of Joe (Matthew Clarke), an isolated and vulnerable fourteen year-old who, after being abandoned by his mother, becomes increasingly distant from his father and is unable to communicate with his peers. He channels his frustrations into mountain biking.
Alistair Pugh, Class 11 Guardian said: “Ad had ambitions to get behind the camera from an early age and it has been a talent that we have enthusiastically encouraged. From documenting class trips to the screening of a number of his films in the school hall, we have created outlets to help him to build his skills, which has been extremely important to his development as a pupil. At the Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School, we accept pupils of all abilities and nurture their individual talents - whether these are academic, social, artistic or musical.”
