70th BIRTHDAY CONCERT 30th May at 7pm in the Hall
Please come to this exciting concert performed by the Meadows Orchestra and the School Community choir. The programme includes work by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Copland. This promises to be an evening to remember! There will be refreshments at the interval provided by class 11. Donations at the door will be most welcome.
 
FRENCH  EVENING in Woodlands hallway & class 10 classroom, Friday 29th May at 8pm
Class 10 is organising a French Evening to fundraise for their forthcoming French trip.
There will be French finger food. Fine French wine will be on sale.  This will be from the Biodynamic vineyards from Pierre Frick. These are the vineyards the class is going to in June. There will also be a fashion show and singing. Tickets: adult £5, child £3.50.
 
MANAGEMENT SURGERY – WEDNESDAYS AT 2.35pm
"The Management Group would like to remind parents that a weekly 'surgery' takes place on Wednesday at 2.35pm. Anyone who wishes to speak to a member of the Management Group about any aspect of the school should contact the office to make an appointment."
 
NO CYCLING IN SCHOOL GROUNDS - Can parents as well as pupils refrain from cycling in – on and out of the School grounds, for everybody’s safety. Thank you.
SMALL WHEELS DAY – Tuesday lunchtime only!
 
DRAMA CLUB for classes 6 and 7! We are continuing our group on Wednesday afternoons from 3.20pm SHARP until 5pm. Come along with us and use your imagination and your voice and your body and your feelings! Let’s make theatre! Come on time… or else! Carey Morning on 477 7437.

SEVENTY YEARS YOUNG!  The Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School book.
This is a book, compiled by Andrew Farquharson and Neil Mackay, is about the history of the school over the past 70 years including photos of classes and teachers. Cost £6, available from the office.
 
Last PTA meeting of the school year! We are meeting on Tuesday, 9th June, at 8pm in the Eurythmy Room. Bring any topics you would like to discuss, we’ll bring the biscuits! See you there!
 
FREE peace and quiet! Would you like to have some quiet time? Then be a backup invigilator. Only 3 time slots remaining! Friday, 5th June: 2.45 – 3.45pm, Wednesday, 10th June: 1.45 – 2.30pm, and Wednesday, 17th June: 9.00 – 9.45am. All you need to do is be present – bring a book! SHORE POETS AT THE LOT,  Grassmarket, Sunday 31st May at 7.45pm
The guest poets at the Shore Poets’ regular monthly Sunday evening next Sunday will be Donald Mackay, Stewart Conn and Peter Snow. Come early to be sure of a place! Tickets:- £4, concessions £3.
 
The Mysteries of Negative Space.  A talk by Nick Thomas, Author of "Space and Counter space: A New Science of Gravity, Time and Light", former electrical engineer and former General Secretary of the Anthroposophical Society in GB.  Exploring dynamically new ways of viewing and understanding aspects of our world (gravity, time, light, colour, the stars and solar system... and more).

THE BIKER showing at Bicycle Film Festival 12th June, 6.15pm at the Edinburgh Filmhouse
The Biker – written and directed by Ad Howells (Class 11) – is showing as part of the Bicycle Film Festival. The film was produced by Scottish Kids Are Making Movies (SKAMM) and the crew included Jack Morning-Newton (Class 9) on camera and editing.
Spinning into the abyss: to vanquish fears, to relive his past, to face his future. Fourteen-year-old Joe (Matthew Clarke) is confused, angry and isolated. Feeling abandoned by his mother, increasingly distant from his father and unable to communicate with is peers, Joe channels his frustration into mountain biking. Can he find the peace he so desperately seeks or will he destroy himself as he pushes himself to extremes?
Funded by the National Lottery through the UK Film Council’s First Light Movies initiative.
The Biker will be shown as part of a feature documentary screening.

WANTED: CAMPERVAN – Does anyone have a campervan or know of someone who does who would be willing to hire to me and my daughter for 5 days (9th – 13th July). I would cover insurance and my son (a qualified mechanic) would do some mechanical work if needed. If you can help contact Susan (lollipop lady) at the gate.
