CLASS 8 PROJECTS Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th April in the Hall at 7.30pm
Come along and see the fruits of the class’s hard work. Open to parents, friends and interested members of the public from 7.30pm. On Tuesday several of the pupils will give talks on their work.
NO PIZZAS ON THURSDAY: Due to the beginning of the class 8 exchange with Lyon, there will be no pizzas made on Thursday 30th April. Please remember to bring a packed lunch. Back to normal on Thursday 7th May.
COME AND CELEBRATE WITH US – All parents and friends are warmly invited to join us for the final hour of our birthday celebration on Friday May 1 at 4pm. There will be music and fun for all. Please note this session is not suitable for children below 12!
Also, don’t forget the Ceilidh on Saturday night May 2 (see separate posters) and the more solemn celebration on Sunday morning May 3 at 10:30 in the School Hall, for the occasion where we honour the teachers of the past.
BIRTHDAY BBQ AND CEILIDH/ DANCE for all the whole family on Saturday 2nd May in the school
Class 11 is organising the 70th Birthday BBQ and Dance for everyone who wants to come and swing the night away. It will be a family event staring with a BBQ at 5.30pm and Dance starting at 7pm. The band will play Ceilidh music as well as music from the Seventies down to the Fifties. Time to practice your Twist, rock and roll and Jive!
Tickets for sale from the office and Friday Market. Adult £5 child £3.50
“The Spirit of the School” Talk by Christian Maclean on 3rd May, 10.30am in the School Hall
Christian Maclean will present a public talk on the spirit of the Edinburgh School as an occasion to pay tribute to former teachers. There will be musical entertainment and light refreshments will be served.
THE MISTRAL EURYTHMY GROUP performance Thursday 7th May at 8pm in Hall
As part of the 70th birthday celebrations there will be a Eurythmy performance by the Mistral Eurythmy Group on Thursday May 7 at 8pm in the school hall.
TEACHER TRAINING TASTER EVENINGS
The teacher training course will be holding three taster evenings on Mondays June 1st, 8th and 15th, from7:30pm to 9:30pm at the school. The theme is “Fundamentals of Steiner Education”. There will be a study and an artistic component to each of the sessions. URGENTLY NEEDED BACKUP INVIGILATORS – The school needs invigilators to help with the exam programme during May and June. Dates are: 20th May Pm, 3rd June pm, 4th June am, 5th June pm, 10th June am & pm &17th June am. If you are able to help please phone Mute in the office on 337 3410.
BOARDING PLACE for class 9 boy.
Toby 15 ½ y old (vegetarian) from class 9, is looking for a family to board with from Mon pm to Fri am. At the moment he commutes from Glasgow which he finds too tiring and time consuming. He is easy going and independent and can adapt readily. Although he wants to board for the rest of his time at school even if someone was willing to have him for the last month of this term that would be helpful. Also if anyone knows of a person outside the school who may be able to help, I would be interested in hearing about it. Contact Fred on 07876308144 or 0141 334 9130(can leave a message).

The next group of YEW (Young Edinburgh Writers), the creative writing group for teenagers, takes place next week on Thursday 30th April, from 4.30 - 6.30pm in the South Bridge Resource Centre, Infirmary Street, (round the corner from Blackwell's book shop on South Bridge) It's a great opportunity for young people aged between 13 and 18 years to meet others from across the city who enjoy creative writing. It's fun and informal, there's no commitment to come every time and if you haven't been before, do come along! All welcome. Cost £5.00 - includes refreshments. Led by Dorothy Baird. PORTOBELLO SAILING AND KAYAKING CLUB
Portobello Sailing and Kayaking Club and the RYA’s Sailing in the City’ team are offering children aged between 8 and 14 the opportunity of a half day sailing taster session.
This is a special inaugural event for the club and morning and afternoon sessions are available over 4 days on two weekends: 23/24 May and the 30/31 May. Each course is half a day long and costs £19.95.
No previous sailing experience is necessary and all equipment including buoyancy aids will be provided.

There are 4 bedrooms which could sleep up to 6/7 people and a driveway! The Hermitage Park is also within walking distance, as are the shops of Morningside and the Dominion cinema. Good bus connections into town, plus you can be on the bypass quickly for day trips to the beautiful beaches of East Lothian. TEACHER TRAINING TASTER EVENINGS
The teacher training course will be holding three taster evenings on Mondays June 1st, 8th and 15th, from7:30pm to 9:30pm at the school. The theme is “Fundamentals of Steiner Education”. There will be a study and an artistic component to each of the sessions. BOARDING PLACE for class 9 boy.
Toby 15 ½ y old (vegetarian) from class 9, is looking for a family to board with from Mon pm to Fri am. At the moment he commutes from Glasgow which he finds too tiring and time consuming. He is easy going and independent and can adapt readily. Although he wants to board for the rest of his time at school even if someone was willing to have him for the last month of this term that would be helpful. YEW - Young Edinburgh Writers. The next group of YEW (Young Edinburgh Writers), the creative writing group for teenagers, takes place next week on Thursday 30th April, from 4.30 - 6.30pm in the South Bridge Resource Centre, Infirmary Street, (round the corner from Blackwell's book shop on South Bridge) It's a great opportunity for young people aged between 13 and 18 years to meet others from across the city who enjoy creative writing. PORTOBELLO SAILING AND KAYAKING CLUB
Portobello Sailing and Kayaking Club and the RYA’s Sailing in the City’ team are offering children aged between 8 and 14 the opportunity of a half day sailing taster session.
This is a special inaugural event for the club and morning and afternoon sessions are available over 4 days on two weekends: 23/24 May and the 30/31 May. Each course is half a day long and costs £19.95.
No previous sailing experience is necessary and all equipment including buoyancy aids will be provided.
