THREE KINGS PLAY – Tuesday 27th January in the Hall at 8pm
“Three Kings Play” will be performed by teachers and Class 12 pupils on Tuesday 27th January at 8pm in the Hall. This play is the third of the Oberufer plays that the school presents every year to the school community. It is suitable for Class 6 (12 years) and upwards. Donations gratefully received at the door.
 
FAMILY BURNS SUPPER AND CEILIDH – Friday 30th January in School Hall
Come and enjoy an organic Burns Supper and dance to the music performed by a professional Ceilidh band on Friday 30th January. A great night out for the whole family!
It starts at 6.30pm with supper followed at 8pm with a Ceilidh
Programme for the night: 
Piping in of the Haggis
                        Addressing the Haggis
Traditional Burn’s Supper (vegetarian option)
                    Followed by entertainment of: Scottish songs & poems, Harp and other music,
Ceilidh dancing.
 
Tickets for Supper + Ceilidh: adult £7.00, child £5.00, family £18.00 (2 adults, 2 children).
Tickets for Ceilidh only: child £2.50, adult £4, Family £10 (2 adults, 2 children).
PLEASE BUY YOUR SUPPER TICKETS IN ADVANCE (this will help the kitchen).
Tickets available from Karin in the office and from Class 11 pupils at the Friday Market.
Tickets are also available at the door.
 
STUDY GROUP FOR PARENTS
The study group for parents and other interested people who want to find out more about the philosophy behind the education, will continue this term. The theme is “An introduction to Anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner’s insights into the nature of the human being” Newcomers are welcome. As many people find it hard to commit to a series of evenings, this term each session will be self-contained, so please feel free to come to just one of the sessions. The theme for February 2 will be “The Four Temperaments as they manifest in the Lower School and the Seven Planetary Types as they manifest in Adolescence”
The study group is hosted by Christian and Astrid Maclean and will take place on the following
Monday evenings: February 2, March 2 and 16. Time 7.30 – 9 pm. Place 3a Tipperlinn Road, Edinburgh EH10 5ET. For further information please contact Astrid Maclean via the school office or by phone on 447 2005 (evenings)
 
 ‘CELEBRATING WOMEN’S VOICES’ poetry evening on Sat 31st Jan at 7.30pm in the Hall
You are welcome to join us for an evening of poetry with some of the most exciting voices in contemporary poetry in Scotland.
Please support this first event in the school's programme of events that mark and celebrate 70 years of Steiner education in Scotland! An evening of words and poetry: 'Celebrating Women's Voices' with poets Janis McKay, Dorothy Baird, Philippa Timewell, Reem Behzad and our very own Emily MacLean. A relaxing way to spend a Saturday evening. Free. Refreshments will be available, donations at the door.

LIFEWAYS – The Healing Arts of Puppetry & Storytelling with young children
A talk by Beatrijs Lockie, former class & kindergarten teacher. Friday 30th January at 7:30pm in the Eurythmy Room.
 
Young Edinburgh Writers - new creative writing group for teenagers
Young Edinburgh Writers (YEW) is a new writing group for young people aged 13-18. It takes place on the last Thursday of the month at South Bridge Resource Centre, Infirmary Street (round the corner from Blackwells bookshop on South Bridge) from 4.30 - 6.30pm and offers the chance to meet other young people from across the city who also enjoy writing stories, poems, memories and reflections and generally having fun with words. The first session is on Thursday 29th January. Cost £5 which includes refreshments. Led by Dorothy Baird, Craigmillar Writer in Residence 2008, poet and experienced leader of writing workshops. RECORDER LESSONS – Margaret Hall, the recorder teacher, had a couple of vacancies on a Tuesday afternoon in the school. Contact her on 01875 340 188.

 AU PAIR/NANNY WANTED - We are a Dutch family. Our 2 girls (4 and 6) both go to the local Steiner school in Amsterdam, Holland and we are looking for a nanny who has had antroposophical education or a Steiner background. She will have her own bed and livingroom next to our house. The hours will vary, usually 30 hours and one night per weekend. Enough time to enjoy Amsterdam!
